Cookie policy
Last updated: 24 August 2026 · Version 2
This is the complete list of cookies and browser storage this site uses. We keep it short deliberately: most of what CanMyPcPlay remembers lives in your browser rather than on our servers.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| cmpri_session | Cookie | Keeps you signed in. Only set after you sign in, and cleared when you sign out. | 30 days |
| cmpri_consent | Cookie | Records which optional categories you allowed, when you chose, and which version of these categories you were shown. Without it we would have to ask you on every page. | 12 months |
| cmpri-pcs | Local storage | Your saved PC profiles. Never sent to our servers. | Until you clear it |
| cmpri-active-pc | Local storage | Which of your saved PC profiles is currently selected. | Until you clear it |
| cmpri-theme | Local storage | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. | Until you clear it |
Third-party cookies
Google's AdSense script loads on every page of this site. It is not currently serving advertisements — the ad slots are switched off while our account is under review — but the script itself does load. We cannot enumerate Google's cookies here by name: they are set by Google's code under Google's control, the set changes over time, and listing invented names would be worse than saying plainly that we do not control them.
What we do control is the signal sent before that script runs. Advertising storage, advertising personalisation and advertising user data are set to denied through Google Consent Mode unless you turn Advertising on. Use Privacy settings in the footer to change that.
We also load application logos from cdn.simpleicons.org. That is an image request rather than a script: it sets no cookies, but the CDN necessarily sees your IP address in order to return the image.
Google Analytics is not enabled. No analytics cookies are set.
Managing storage
You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings. Clearing them signs you out and removes your saved PC profiles and theme preference — everything else on the site will continue to work.
Consent
Everything in the table above is either strictly necessary or a preference you set yourself by using a feature — signing in, saving a PC, choosing a theme, or recording this very choice. None of it is used to profile you, and none of it can be switched off without breaking the thing it exists for.
The optional categories are Analytics and Advertising. Both start off. You are asked once, on your first visit; ignoring or dismissing the banner is not treated as agreement, and there is no option that quietly means yes. Change your mind whenever you like through Privacy settings in the footer of any page.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we record both optional categories as refused straight away and do not show you the banner at all.
