About Blender
Blender covers modelling, sculpting, animation, simulation, compositing and video editing. Its Cycles renderer is GPU-accelerated and benefits enormously from VRAM — a scene that does not fit in graphics memory falls back to far slower CPU rendering. The Eevee real-time renderer is much lighter.

- Does Blender need an NVIDIA graphics card?
- No. Cycles supports NVIDIA (CUDA and OptiX), AMD (HIP) and Intel (oneAPI) GPUs, as well as CPU rendering. OptiX on NVIDIA RTX cards is currently the fastest path for ray-traced rendering, but it is not a requirement for using Blender.
What PC do I need for Blender?

Can my laptop run Blender?
The same check applies — enter the parts your laptop actually contains. Be aware that a laptop graphics chip is usually slower than the desktop card it shares a name with, because the manufacturer sets a lower power limit. A laptop advertising the Graphics card with 8 GB VRAM named here may therefore fall somewhat short of it in practice, and sustained performance drops further as the machine heats up. Treat a borderline laptop result as optimistic rather than assured.
